Today I launched a brand-new website for Lora Cheadle, and I am a little giddy about it.
Lora and I have worked together for seven years. In that time, her WordPress website has been redone a couple of times.
Each version was great for its moment.
But this one is different. This time, we didn't just give the website a facelift. We rebuilt the whole thing, from the ground up, as a custom platform.
And we did it in weeks, not months.
The Starting Point: Seven Years of WordPress
Lora is a betrayal recovery coach, attorney, author, and host of the FLAUNT! podcast. Her website isn't a simple brochure. It's the front door to her business, her library of free resources, and years and years of content.
Her WordPress site had grown right along with her. And like most WordPress sites that have been loved and layered for years, it had a lot going on under the hood.
Here's what the old site looked like:
And here is the new one:
Same Lora. Same mission. A softer, calmer, more modern experience for women who are showing up at one of the hardest moments of their lives.
The Challenge: A Lot of Content
This is the part that makes a website migration scary.
A redesign is easy when there's not much to move. Lora has a LOT to move:
- Over a thousand images in her media library
- Nearly 400 podcast episodes
- 92 blog posts
- Opt-ins, downloads, and service pages
- Calls to action scattered throughout the site that all needed to be updated and pointed to the right place
Every piece of it had to be updated, migrated, and checked.
The old-school approach to a project like this is a major overhaul. Months of work, a long list of moving parts, and a lot of crossed fingers.
Instead, we used AI-assisted development to do the heavy lifting. That let me spend my time on strategy, design, and making sure everything landed in the right place, not on copy-and-paste.
This took weeks.
What Changed
Here's what Lora's new website does that her old one couldn't:
- It's about ten times faster. Page speed increased tenfold. Speed affects how visitors feel, how long they stay, and how search engines rank her site.
- It's optimized for AI and SEO. People are increasingly finding answers through AI tools as well as traditional search. Her content is now structured so both can understand and recommend it.
- It's built to meet ADA accessibility standards. That means a better experience for every visitor, and one less thing for Lora to worry about.
- It's modernized. A cleaner design, a calmer feel, and a layout that works beautifully on every screen.
A Back End That Doesn't Make Her Think
Here's where I get really excited.
Lora doesn't want to learn a complicated website platform. She wants to run her business.
So instead of handing her a giant tool with a hundred buttons she'll never use, I built her a simple dashboard that covers just the basics she needs to manage her website.
From one clean screen, she can:
- Write and edit her blog posts
- Review and edit her podcast episodes
- Manage her image library
- Quickly update the files and downloads she shares in her opt-ins and services
- See her contact messages
- Send me a change request for anything on a page she'd rather not touch herself
And my favorite part? Her podcast does the work for her.
New episodes are pulled in automatically from her Podbean feed. She just reviews them, edits what she wants, and she's done. No copying and pasting. No hours lost to technology.
This Is Only the Beginning
The website is launched, but we're not done. Because once the foundation is solid, the fun part starts.
Here's what we're building next:
- A custom coaching platform for Lora's clients
- A library of content made specifically for her clients
- And more, because when your website is custom-built, it can grow in whatever direction your business does
That's the difference between a website you have to work around and a website that works for you.
What I Loved About This Project
Honestly? It was fun.
Seven years in, working with Lora is still easy and still fun. That's the dream.
But what I loved most was watching her see what's possible. Lora had a website she could count on, and I got to show her how much more it could do for her, without the major, old-school overhaul that eats up months of her time and energy.
That's the magic of building with AI. It's not about replacing the human parts of your business. It's about removing the friction around them.
And I'm not done. I have another WordPress website coming up for a redesign, and I can't wait to do it all again.
Is Your Website Due for an Upgrade?
